The company’s origins were founded in Birmingham in 1886, and was named British Workman’s Mutual Assurance Company Limited, Britannic went through a series of name changes until settling on Britannic Assurance Ltd in 1981. It made acquisitions, including Britannia Asset Management, Alba Life, Evergreen Retirement and First Active.
Amjec Ltd worked with Britannic Assurance at its impressive custom built offices in Wythall, just south of Birmingham.
Britannic were implementing a laptop Point of Sale system - ispis 32 by Crisp Computing (the same software we helped implement at Royal Liver Assurance). Britannic had elected to not use Crisp's central server software (CPOS), and instead were working with Cap Gemini to implement Cap's HOME system.
Amjec were subcontracted to Britannic via Cap Gemini, working closely with both Cap and Crisp to robustly test
- the ipsis core software
- the changes made by Crisp to the ipsis laptop software at Britannic's request
- the integration of ipsis and HOME
